Sometimes it is hard to get a client or prospect to move into a level 3 response. Does this more often speak to an Advisor’s skill level or the fact that some clients have a hard time getting to Level 3 responses themselves?

Not so much advisor skill level as advisors experience and Way of Being™. Everyone has high level 3 values. Most advisors who are new to Values-Based Financial Planning™ tend to be a little stiff and self conscious when conducting Values Conversations™. The more you do the better you get. You become relaxed so they become more relaxed.

b In my Financial Road Map® Conversations I find that my clients want to talk about the deck, car and the children’s education when I am trying to dig out their Core Values. I am not sure if I am making mistakes or just need to redirect them to their values. I am telling them that we will discuss the Goals in just a few minutes but need for them to go through the Values Conversation™.
b I'm new to Values-Based Financial Planning™ and am looking forward to the Academy 1 in October. In the meantime, I wanted your guidance on the following: I've been referred to a young family man who is dying. I'm wondering about how he'll react to a question like, “What’s Important About… To You?” and probably more so to the question about his tangible goals... especially as he doesn't have much of a road to look down. How do you handle conversations with people who are dying, especially young people with families?
b How do I better describe my value? One potential client thought he was already living out many of his values and thus enjoying his ideal life. How do I describe that what I do provides incredible value even for the person who enjoys managing his own investments and has enough money and time to take plenty of vacations?
b Do I take out the Financial Road Map® that was completed on the Phone Consultation™ and recap the Values Staircase™ trying to take them higher? Then go into Pre-Commitment™?
b Going into my first Financial Road Map® interview, do clients ever ask or express skepticism/sarcasm at the, ‘What’s Important About…To You’ questions because it's just a fill in the blank formula. I ask because someone I practiced with asked this and I must admit that I felt a similar feeling. I know that the process works and gets to important values, but it feels almost too simple. Please offer your thoughts and perspective.
