Trusted Advisor Spotlight

January 26th, 2015 by

At Bachrach & Associates, Inc. we train Financial Advisors to build a better business and to be in the top 1% of Financial Advisors worldwide in terms of value delivered to the client, business success and quality of life for themselves.

In short, we take typical Financial Advisors and turn them into Trusted Advisors. What’s the difference? Well a Trusted Advisor is somebody who always has their client’s back. They deliver comprehensive financial services through a best-in-class deliverables team (We even help them build that team!) and most importantly is somebody whose clients and prospective clients actually want to meet with, not only to improve their financial health, but to better their life as well.

IMG_6254Meet one of our Trusted Advisors, Dave. This is an email he sent to us last week and we had to post it because his breakthrough is nothing short of amazing. Enjoy!

Hi Bill,

I hope you all had great snow in Utah and enjoyed each others company! I wish I could have been there. I thought I would share a success story that has particular significance to me. In this case, it falls into the “look how far you’ve come…” category as opposed to the “look how far you still have to go…”.

Exactly one year ago, I conducted a Financial Road Map® interview with an existing client. It was a painful experience for all involved. I could not even listen to the recording. It was awkward, ineffective and ultimately, damaged our relationship. They didn’t even agree to the then, $4,200 planning fee. I have had no contact with them since.

I Had A Bad Bike Ride Saturday… Or Did I?

August 13th, 2012 by

My primary way of staying in shape is cycling and I’m preparing for a trip to the Central Alps to ride some of the epic climbs that are often part of the Tour de France. This past Saturday I experimented with a nutritional supplement that I thought would help me perform better in the heat. It didn’t work. Instead my stomach was wrecked and my energy sapped. I arrived at the regrouping point at the top of the 11-mile Sunrise Highway climb to Mt. Laguna way behind the others. Recognizing that I was having an off-day, one woman commented, “It looks like you are having a character-building ride today, Bill.” That woman, by the way, is Kathleen McCartney Hearst the female champion of the 1982 Hawaii Ironman. She knows about character. The ride was 77 miles with almost 7,000 feet of climbing and I felt like crap most of the way, but I finished. And the seed Kathleen planted about character stuck. As bad as my day had been physically, I felt oddly good about my “performance.” As bad as it was physically, it turned out be good for me mentally.

Similar things happen in business all the time. Prospects say no. Clients can be flakey. Markets don’t cooperate. Some days are better than others. What if instead of thinking of your bad days as just bad days, you thought of them as character-builders that will give you more strength to be successful in the long-run? After all, being a successful Financial Advisor  is a marathon, not a sprint.

Are you swayed by the facts?

Are you swayed by the facts?

Last week, after a workshop for top advisors, one of them said something interesting to me; “90% of the population is not swayed by the facts.”  Think about that for a moment and ponder the truth in that statement.  Then, be sure you are not part of the percent who is not swayed by the facts.

Success Leaves Clues (Don’t Shoot the Messenger) – Part 1 of 3

August 16th, 2010 by

You have probably heard the saying that success leaves clues. These “clues” are Universal Truths or Laws of Nature that we observe successful people following that provide a good example of what to do if we would like to be successful also. These are things we accept as being true and unchangeable. Some of the more obvious Universal Truths or Natural Laws are that humans need to breathe air to survive, gravity, and that water is wet.

Another such Natural Law is what I call The Rule of 168. There are only 168 hours in the week and your success and happiness in life are determined by how you choose to invest your 168 hours. This was not my idea. God did not confer with me when he or she decided how long it would take the Earth to make a complete spin on its axis or the time required for the Earth to revolve around the sun. It is what it is. Resistance is futile. Please don’t shoot the messenger.

Jack Nicholson’s character (Colonel Nathan R. Jessep) in the movie A Few Good Men delivered one of the most famous lines in the modern movie era, “The Truth! You can’t handle the truth!” I propose that life is better when you choose to handle the truth. Success is leaving clues about the truths required to be successful. Are you listening? Do you see them? Will you choose to handle the truth?
